The Story Behind Kullvi App

Hi everyone,

I'm Akash Sharma, a proud son of Himachal, born in the beautiful town of Katrain, District Kullu — a place that's not only my birthplace but also the source of my inspiration. Today, I want to share a story — the real story behind the Kullvi App. This isn't just an app. It's a dream. A mission. A promise to my homeland.

From Australia to Himachal: A Journey of Realization

In 2019, after working in Australia for some time, I started an IT company, AskDeveloper, in Mohali. Over the years, we worked with international clients, built strong projects, and steadily grew as a team.

Then in 2024, a visit from my Australian business partners unexpectedly brought me back to Himachal in a more meaningful way. During their trip to India, I wanted them to experience not just the cities, but also the culture and beauty of my hometown, Manali. From the landscapes to the warmth of the people, they were genuinely captivated by the experience.

The Moment That Changed Everything

On our way from Mohali to Manali, it was a long drive and nature called. We stopped at a petrol station, expecting a basic facility. What followed was something I wasn't prepared for. The restroom was in such a poor state that they walked out immediately — disgusted, shocked, and visibly uncomfortable. They were two men, so I told them to manage outdoors. But what if their wives or children were with them?

I felt incredibly embarrassed.

The most honest thing they said was: "Himachal is beautiful, the people and culture are amazing — but with better infrastructure, it could rival Switzerland."

Painful Feedback, Powerful Realizations

Over the years, more friends, clients, and colleagues visited Himachal. Some complained about bad roads, some about no street lights, some about poor waste management, and others about the unplanned tourism experience. Every single time, it felt like someone was pointing fingers at my home — and I didn't have a strong defense.

I wanted to contact government officials, but soon realized the financial debt burden of Himachal. I knew how difficult it is for the government to prioritize everything at once. That's when I stopped blaming and started thinking differently.

The Birth of Kullvi: More Than Just an App

That's how Everything Local, Powered by Kullvi was born — not just to promote tourism, but to empower local businesses, generate employment, and help Himachal become self-reliant.

Instead of depending on foreign tour and travel platforms and companies that take profits out of India, I wanted to create a platform built in India, for Himachal, that ensures money flows back to our people, our towns, our hills.

Kullvi is not just an app — it's a movement. A movement to:

  • Promote local experiences to support and empower local businesses.
  • Help tourists connect with real Himachal — from stays, food, rides to local adventures.
  • Use technology to uplift our villages and businesses.
  • Make Himachal a nature-friendly tech hub, where development doesn't harm the environment.
  • Ultimately help the government by boosting local economies and tax contributions.

A Dream for a Better Himachal

I always wanted to start my IT company in Kullu, but due to infrastructure limitations, I had to settle in Mohali. Through Kullvi, I hope to change that — not just for me, but for thousands of talented youth who leave their hometowns for better opportunities. Let's build those opportunities here, together.

Let's stop complaining. Let's start contributing. Let's show the world that we don't just have the beauty of Switzerland — we have the spirit too.

A Request from My Heart

To everyone reading this — This is not just an app — it's a movement. Let us come together and make Himachal the best place in the world — for locals, for tourists, for generations to come. If we can make it happen here, in the heart of the Himalayas — we can light this spark across India, and carry its warmth to the world.

Let's make Himachal not just the most beautiful state in India, but also a symbol of vision and progress.
